Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning shared on Friday at a press briefing that Beijing is aware of reports that Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida is considering attending the NATO summit scheduled for July, EDnews reports.
"We are concerned," the spokesperson said, adding that the alliance's "eastward movement into the Asia-Pacific region will inevitably undermine regional peace and stability." She stated that the countries in the region "strongly oppose any words or deeds that introduce military groups to provoke secession and confrontation."
Beijing called on Tokyo to "learn from history, stick to the path of peaceful development," and avoid taking decisions that could threaten the mutual trust among countries in the area.
