President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held Security Council's extraordinary session on June 25, the presidential press service reported, Ednews reports citing Akipress.
During the meeting, reports were presented by the Prime Minister, Prosecutor General, Chairman of the National Security Committee, Minister of Defense, Minister of Internal Affairs, and Minister of Foreign Affairs. These reports highlighted the measures being taken to implement orders in response to the situation in the Russian Federation.
While acknowledging that the events in Russia are an internal matter, the concern of the Kazakhstani people regarding the situation in their friendly neighboring country, with which Kazakhstan shares the world's longest border, was emphasized.
President Tokayev noted that Russia is a strategic partner of Kazakhstan. He recalled his support for the Russian authorities' actions to restore constitutional order and ensure the safety of its citizens, as expressed in his telephone conversation with President Vladimir Putin. The President also welcomed the agreement on the cessation of military actions.
The President emphasized that the rule of law should be the fundamental principle guiding domestic policies of any state, including Kazakhstan. It serves as the basis for maintaining public order and promoting socio-economic development.
During the meeting, the importance of ensuring financial and economic stability within the country, as well as the safety of Kazakhstani citizens, was emphasized. The President issued instructions to all heads of state agencies to be prepared to respond to potential crisis situations.
