The European Union has reached an informal agreement on slapping military sanctions against Belarus, Politico reported on Tuesday citing three of the block's diplomats.
According to the diplomats, the package is designed to mirror sanctions against Russia, with the goal to stop military components from being illegally provided to Russia through Belarusian territory. The restrictions will be put on battlefield equipment, with aviation parts falling under the bans.
The diplomats further added that the European Commission is expected to send the sanctions text as early as Wednesday, with the EU deputy ambassadors anticipated to greenlight the agreement during next week.
