Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal (pictured) took to Twitter on Thursday to criticize Poland's alleged plan to keep blocking the export of Ukrainian grain to the European Union. "This is an unfriendly and populist move that will severely impact global food security and Ukraine's economy," he wrote.
Even after Russia suspended its participation in the Black Sea Grain Initiative, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said earlier this week that Poland will not open its border with Ukraine for grain imports after September 15, the day when European Commission's ban on importing Ukrainian grain is set to expire. Besides Poland, EU countries that sought an extension of the moratorium are Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia.
