United States Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo revealed in an interview with CNBC on Friday that she is planning to make an official visit to China later this year after Beijing stated that it is "open" to her visiting the country.
Raimondo also disclosed that she intends to raise Washington's concerns with Chinese officials over the "targeting" of American tech companies.
The visit will take place despite the hacking incident last month during which hackers, who are believed to be from China, acessed Raimondo's emails through a "vulnerability" in Microsoft email servers. "It's a significant hack. It's unacceptable, whoever did it. And we're going to investigate it fully and find out who's behind it," the commerce secretary told CNBC.
