More than 1,000 citizens of Russia and Belarus who applied to the Lithuanian authorities for a residence permit or a national visa were refused because they were recognized as persons posing a threat to national security, the Lithuanian Migration Department said, Ednews informs via TASS.
The department counted 254 citizens of the Russian Federation, 43 of whom were denied a temporary residence permit, 46 applicants were denied renewal of this document, and for 59 persons it was canceled. 52 Russians are deprived of the right to permanent residence in the country. In 52 cases, Russian citizens were denied a Lithuanian national visa.
According to the department's calculations, 910 citizens of Belarus also pose a threat to national security, 337 of whom were denied a temporary residence permit. 121 people were denied renewal of this document, and for 205 people it was cancelled. In 241 cases, citizens of Belarus were denied a Lithuanian national visa.
