The number of fatalities resulting from the earthquake that struck Morocco last week has now reached 2,681, according to an updated toll provided by the government of the country on Monday.
The number of the injured also rose to 2,501 people. Among the deceased, 2,530 individuals have already been buried. In response to the tragedy, Moroccan King Mohammed VI proclaimed three days of mourning that started on Saturday.
The earthquake was classified as one of the most powerful to hit Morocco in the past century with its magnitude measuring 6.8.
