Five United States nationals whose release was requested by Washington in a wider prisoner exchange deal with Tehran are leaving Iran, US media reported, citing unnamed officials.
The five US citizens are on their way to Doha on an airplane sent by Qatar, the country that mediated the agreement. They will later leave for Washington DC.
Iranian officials confirmed that the nation's approximately €5.5 billion held in South Korea was unfrozen and transferred to Qatar, where it will be accessible to the government in Tehran for humanitarian purposes only. Iran also expects to secure the release of five of their citizens imprisoned in the US.
