The Izu Islands off the coast of Japan were rocked by an earthquake on Thursday. According to preliminary data, the 6.6-magnitude earthquake struck at a depth of around 10 km near Torishima Island.
The Japan Meteorological Agency said a tsunami warning is in place for the Izu Islands and the Pacific coast, with waves of up to 1 m expected. There is currently no information on casualties or damage.
