United States President Joe Biden announced during an address from the Oval Office that he will ask Congress on Friday for additional aid for Ukraine and Israel amid the conflicts in the two countries.
Biden noted he plans to make an "urgent" budget request to lawmakers, but did not disclose the exact amounts he will seek. According to earlier media reports, the US president intends to ask for $60 billion in additional Ukraine aid and for another $14 billion for Israel.
According to Biden, the additional funding will "will help us keep American troops out of harm's way" and make Israel become "stronger than ever" in order to prevent the war with Hamas from spreading further across the region, as well as help Ukraine "stop [Russian President Vladimir] Putin's brutality."
