The Russian Foreign Ministry announced on Sunday that its head Sergey Lavrov will visit Iran the following day.
"We confirm Lavrov's talks in Tehran [are] scheduled for Monday," the ministry's spokesperson Maria Zakharova told RIA Novosti in a brief statement.
The visit comes after Iran received an invitation to join BRICS, an alliance comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, and amid the allegations Iran supports Hamas's attacks on Israel.
