Turkey is believed to be preparing to host an international peace conference regarding the conflict between Israel and Hamas, RIA Novosti reported on Monday, citing a diplomatic source in the Turkish capital.
According to the source, after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced his intention to hold an international peace conference, the country received "messages through diplomatic channels from a number of regional countries about support for this idea. On behalf of Mr. President, work is underway in this direction. We hope for the implementation of this initiative in the very near future."
Previously, Erdogan accused Israel of committing "war crimes" and defended Hamas, calling the group a "patriotic organization."
