Iran and Germany condemned the comments made by Israeli Heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu, who stated that dropping a nuclear bomb on Gaza is "one of the possibilities" for his country.
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian (pictured) claimed Eliyahu's remarks showed the "real failure" of Israel against "the resistance" and urged the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to take "immediate and uninterrupted action to disarm this barbaric and apartheid regime." Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the German Foreign Ministry called the Israeli official's comments "unacceptable."
On Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Eliyahu's "statements are not based in reality" and the government announced it indefinitely suspended the official.
