Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that this is "not the right" moment to hold elections in Ukraine, while the country should work, above all, on its unity, Ednews reports via UNIAN
"Now is the time of defense, the time of the battle, on which the fate of the state and people depends, and not the time for the fake elections that only Russia expects from Ukraine." the president said during a video address arguing that it is more important to put an end to political disputes, while the state has structures capable of resolving these problems.
Following the Russian invasion in February 2022, Kiev declared martial law prohibiting elections. However, the country intended to hold parliamentary elections in October and presidential ones in March 2024.
