The United Kingdom government announced that the British branch of missile manufacturer MBDA and the Polish state-owned defense company Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ) signed a £4 billion agreement "to deliver next-generation air defense system to Poland", - Ednews reports via reuters.
According to the statement, the deal will reinforce European security amid the prolonged Russian-Ukraine conflict and enable Poland to have "an enhanced ground-based air defense system capable of launching missiles to engage air threats … at ranges of more than 40 kilometers." As part of the program Narew, the deal will also promote the production of "complex missiles on Polish soil in years to come."
On the matter, UK Defense Secretary Grant Shapps noted that "this is another crucial step … to act as a clear deterrent to our adversaries."
