The electronic bracelet system will be introduced in Armenia from July 2025 as part of the fight against domestic violence. The project was approved at a meeting of the Armenian government, Ednews informs referring to Armenian media.
Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan said that now, in some cases, restrictions are applied to violators. For example, a ban on approaching a potential victim or its place of residence within a certain distance.
“In practice, it is very difficult to apply this without technical means. And we sometimes see that our law enforcement agencies do not respond with the required speed. Therefore, this solution is important, with the help of bracelets we will be able to check the proper distance. In case of violation, the police will take action,” said Pashinyan.
He added that the bracelets have already begun to be used for various purposes, for example, by the probation service. They are also applied under house arrest from January 1.
The head of the Ministry of Justice Grigor Minasyan explained that 300 devices were purchased. Since July 1, similar bracelets have been used for administrative control.
