United Kingdom Defense Secretary Grant Shapps will travel to Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories this week to try to accelerate the humanitarian aid delivery to Gaza, The UK government revealed in a statement on Thursday.
During his visit to the region, Shapps is expected to hold meetings with the Palestinian Authority Interior Minister Ziad Hab Al-Reeh and with Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant to discuss Israel's next moves and actions to ensure safer conditions for civilians in the West Bank.
"We have deployed an extra 1,000 military personnel in the Middle East and our forces are there to support the humanitarian aid effort and help in stabilising the area," the UK minister said.
