Israeli authorities urged Egypt to improve the control of the border with Gaza and stop Hamas smugglers from bringing weapons and people into the enclave, according to Ednews, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing Egyptian officials.
According to the report, Israel demanded that sensors be installed in the Egyptian-controlled Philadelphi Corridor, which could warn Israel in case Hamas tries to rebuild tunnels or bring in weapons after the war. Additionally, also requested direct notifications in case of sensor activation and the right to send surveillance drones to the area should such activation occur.
Meanwhile, Egyptian authorities said they might consider installing the sensors, but warned that direct notifications and the entry of Israeli drones into the border area would mean the violation of Egypt's sovereignty.
