BAKU/SHUSHA – Political analyst and international affairs expert Peter Tase has described the Shusha Global Media Forum as a landmark platform for addressing the future of journalism, artificial intelligence, disinformation and the role of credible media in an increasingly complex global information environment.
Sharing his views with EDnews, Tase said Azerbaijan is becoming an increasingly important venue for international discussions on the evolving media landscape.
"Azerbaijan is becoming ever more relevant and important when discussing the role of media in democratic societies, artificial intelligence, disinformation and the consequences of fake news. Shusha's historic heritage and rich cultural fabric make it an ideal hub for strengthening credible media and promoting global understanding," he said.
According to him, the forum is particularly significant because it is being held in Shusha, a city that, in his view, has experienced years of inaccurate and biased international media coverage.
"For the first time, scholars, academics and government leaders from around the world have gathered in Shusha to discuss strengthening the role of truthful journalism. The city is transforming into a place where dialogue on responsible media, peace and international cooperation can take place," he noted.
The forum demonstrates Azerbaijan's growing role in shaping international conversations on information integrity, technological change and the challenges posed by disinformation and hybrid warfare.
Commenting on the discussions during the forum, Tase said the dialogue with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev addressed issues ranging from media credibility and artificial intelligence to the impact of propaganda and information warfare on global affairs.
He also described the Shusha Global Media Forum as a historic initiative that, in his opinion, enhances Azerbaijan's international profile as a platform for dialogue on the future of global media.
Referring to Azerbaijan's foreign policy, he believes relations between Azerbaijan and the United States have strengthened, adding that President Ilham Aliyev and US President Donald Trump have played important roles in advancing bilateral ties.
