Viewers may have been devastated when he stepped down as host of Saturday Kitchen last year but they can rejoice as James Martin has landed a new Saturday morning cooking show.

The new ITV show will be called Saturday Morning with James Martin and sees the TV chef sharing recipes from his own kitchen and entertaining a string of famous guests.

Unlike Saturday Kitchen, the new show will be pre-recorded meaning less chance of any live TV bloopers.

Speaking about his new TV venture, James said: “ITV is just such a wonderful broadcaster and an absolute pleasure to work with.

"Me and my team feel right at home here and are really excited about growing our relationship with the new projects we have coming up.

“Being back on Saturday mornings feels really exciting, not a day has gone by in the last year without someone asking me if I’ll be back at that time! But it was really important to me to do things differently… so the new show will take some unexpected turns, watch this space!”

The new morning show is not the only chance fans will have to catch James. He’s also set to front James Martin’s American Adventure, which will see him heading West to East from LA to New York and sampling some of the most iconic stateside food.

And after the success of James Martin’s French Adventure, the show will be moving from daytime into an evening slot for a new series later this year.

It’s fair to say fans have missed seeing James on their screens on Saturday mornings. Following his departure from Saturday Kitchen , fans flooded Twitter and begged for his return.

One fan wrote: “I can't watch Saturday Kitchen without James.”

And another said: “BBC's Saturday Kitchen's practical joke took long enough now...bring back James Martin!!”
