Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has described the recently signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the United States as a major achievement for Tehran’s so-called “axis of resistance".
During a meeting with Mohammed Al-Nuaimi, vice chairman of the Houthi Supreme Political Council, Ghalibaf said the agreement demonstrated that the United States and Israel had been compelled to acknowledge Iran’s regional allies.
“The United States and Israel were forced to practically recognise Iran’s allies in the axis of resistance, and this is one of the achievements of this memorandum,” Ghalibaf was quoted by Iranian media as saying.
The “axis of resistance” refers to Iran’s network of allied armed groups across the Middle East, including Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Houthis in Yemen, Hamas in Gaza and several Iran-backed groups in Iraq.
Ghalibaf described the MoU as “a defeat for the United States and an achievement for the axis of resistance, both militarily and politically.”
He also argued that successful diplomacy must be backed by military strength, warning that the United States and Israel would “resort to war” if they perceived Iran to be weak.
