Russia is prepared to continue strengthening its strategic partnership with Iran following the recent conflict involving the United States and Israel, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said on Saturday.
Medvedev, who is leading the Russian delegation at the funeral of former Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, made the remarks in an interview with Iran's Tasnim News Agency.
He also described the Strait of Hormuz as providing Iran with significant strategic leverage during the conflict.
"The Strait of Hormuz is Iran's nuclear weapon," Medvedev said, referring to the waterway's importance to global energy supplies.
His comments underscore Moscow's continued support for Tehran as the two countries seek to deepen political and strategic cooperation.
