The 33rd Annual Session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, being held in The Hague, the Netherlands, is continuing its work, EDnews reports.
Gaya Mammadov, head of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis delegation, addressed the session, which is discussing issues related to the rule of international law, peace and cooperation.
In his remarks, Mammadov said double standards and selective approaches were among the main reasons behind the unsatisfactory situation regarding compliance with the norms and principles of international law. He said the principles of sovereignty and sovereign equality of states must always be protected and respected as supreme values.
Mammadov also drew attention to the need to apply international law in the digital space and protect states' digital sovereignty at a time of expanding use of information technologies and rapid development of artificial intelligence. He spoke about Azerbaijan's progressive policies and activities aimed at maintaining an optimal balance between security, development and human rights in the use of new technologies.
The head of the delegation also briefed participants on the work of Azerbaijan's Digital Development Council, led by First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva, as an advanced practice in the OSCE area. He said the council reflects a comprehensive concept and interagency approach in the digital field, and stressed the importance of international cooperation in this area.
