Tehran — An outpouring of grief and emotion swept across Tehran as hundreds of thousands of Iranians gathered to bid farewell to the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was assassinated during the recent conflict.
Mourners dressed in black filled streets surrounding the funeral procession, many carrying Iranian flags, portraits of Khamenei, and banners while chanting religious and political slogans.
The funeral ceremony drew massive crowds from across Iran, with officials describing it as one of the largest public gatherings in the country's history. Foreign delegations from numerous countries also attended to pay their respects.
The ceremony took place amid heightened regional tensions, as Iran continues to mourn the loss of its longtime leader and senior officials vow to respond to those responsible for the assassination.
