Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump held a phone call lasting one hour and 25 minutes, discussing bilateral relations, the situation in Ukraine, US-Iran talks and a number of international issues, EDnews reports, citing Russian media.
Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said the conversation was the fourth between the two leaders since the start of the year and was businesslike and constructive.
According to Ushakov, Trump confirmed his readiness to support efforts to end hostilities in Ukraine as soon as possible and help seek a peaceful settlement. Putin, for his part, presented Russia's assessment of the situation along the line of contact.
The Russian president also expressed hope that talks between the United States and Iran would help produce mutually acceptable, long-term solutions on key issues.
Putin also congratulated Trump on the 250th anniversary of US independence, while the two leaders noted the importance of the alliance between the peoples of the two countries during World War II.
Ushakov said Putin reminded Trump of the standing invitation to visit Russia. He also noted that the US side had initiated the latest phone call.
