Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said the massive public turnout for the funeral of late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei demonstrates the late leader's enduring influence and standing among the Iranian people.
According to the state-run ISNA news agency, Pezeshkian described the nationwide mourning as "the best evidence of the greatness, dignity, and strength of the martyred leader of the revolution."
The Iranian president also claimed that the scale of the funeral had drawn the anger of the United States and Israel, without providing further details.
His remarks came as hundreds of thousands of mourners gathered in Tehran to pay their final respects to Khamenei during one of the largest public ceremonies in the country's history.
