US President Donald Trump has warned that “all hell will rain down” on Iran if it attempts to acquire a nuclear weapon, stressing that preventing Tehran from obtaining such capability remains his top priority.
EDnews reports that Trump made the remarks while speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the G7 summit in France, where he addressed the recently announced US–Iran agreement.
He said the deal clearly stipulates that Iran will not be allowed to possess nuclear weapons.
“The only thing that really matters to me is Iran will never have a nuclear weapon, and it says it loud and clear,” Trump said.
He added that any attempt by Iran to pursue nuclear weapons would trigger a severe response.
“All hell will rain down on Iran if the Islamic Republic intends to acquire a nuclear weapon,” he stated.
Iranian officials have repeatedly maintained over the years that the country has no intention of developing nuclear weapons, insisting that its nuclear program is focused solely on peaceful energy purposes.
