Legendary German football player Franz Beckenbauer answered to the questions of Eurasia Diary.
Talking into your microphone during 2016 UEFA Champions League final in Milan Franz Beckenbauer said that that he’s always ready to support children in international tournaments.
He has thanked Gazprom for ‘Football for Friendship’ project, an international children's social program initiated by the company.
‘I'm always ready to support such tournaments and I am happy to participate in it. These children make my heart happy. I am very grateful to Gazprom for this.’
‘Today's rising generation will grow up in a way to determine the exact shape of our future’, - said Beckenbauer.
'With programs like "Football for friendship" which serves for promotion of friendship, equality, justice, health, peace and loyalty concepts, young people can really change the world for better,'- he added.
'Football – the most popular sport which doesn't recognize any state or geographical boundaries, is also the most inclusive sport in the world. Stars of world football respond to such offers with pleasure and with their participation success is guaranteed.'
‘I am honored to be an Ambassador of the project and symbolic captain of this great team’,- continued Beckenbauer.
‘I should say that the forum was an obvious success and the atmosphere was magical. I think every attendee felt this. I really want to see such events become into a tradition, because they are extremely important for the younger generations.’
‘The lessons of mutual respect, tolerance and honesty that the children learn in Milan, will help them in their adult life. I don't know if football can really change the world, but no doubt that to makes it better.’
