The parliaments of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan are working to expand interparliamentary interaction, and the parties aim to expand cooperation in this area, EDnews reports referring to the Uzbek Senate.
This issue was discussed at a meeting between Tanzila Narbaeva, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, and Huseyn Guliyev, the Azerbaijani Ambassador to the country, who is concluding his diplomatic mission in the country.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and prospects for the development of Uzbek-Azerbaijani relations based on the principles of friendship, brotherhood, mutual trust, and alliance.
"At the meeting, the parties emphasized that, thanks to the political will and trusting relationship between the two leaders, Uzbek-Azerbaijani cooperation has reached a qualitatively new level. In recent years, political dialogue has significantly intensified, the legal framework has strengthened, and trade, economic, investment, interregional, and cultural-humanitarian ties are expanding. Particular attention was placed on interparliamentary cooperation. It was emphasized that the parliaments of both countries are systematically working to provide legislative support for the agreements reached at the highest level," reads the statement.
During the conversation, Narbaeva and Guliyev noted the importance of further expanding ties between the relevant committees and interparliamentary cooperation groups between the two countries, exchanging experience in lawmaking and parliamentary oversight, and intensifying interaction within international parliamentary organizations.
