The number of laboratory-confirmed Ebola cases in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has risen to 2,011, according to the country's Ministry of Communication and Media.
Health authorities confirmed 20 new infections over the past 24 hours, underscoring the continued spread of the virus.
Official figures show that 754 people have died, with the outbreak recording a 23.4% fatality rate. A total of 376 patients are currently receiving treatment in hospitals and medical isolation units.
The outbreak began on May 15 in eastern DRC and neighboring Uganda, with Ituri Province identified as the epicenter. Since then, health officials have continued efforts to contain the disease as new cases emerge.
