Thirty-four buildings either collapsed or were partially damaged in Yerevan’s Erebuni district due to an explosion, Vice-Mayor of Yerevan Sarkis Madatyan told Sputnik-Armenia, Ednews informs.
According to Madatyan, Yerevan City Hall and Erebuni Prefecture have already assessed the needs, and scale of destruction. Three buildings completely collapsed, three others partially collapsed, and the remaining houses suffered varying degrees of damage - doors and windows were shattered.
Regarding the compensation to citizens, Madatyan explained that this issue would be resolved after studying the causes of the explosion and an examination by the emergency services.
On February 5, at about 11:30 am (GMT+4), an explosion occurred in the Nor Aresh area, which is mainly built up with private houses. Two people were rescued from the rubble and the bodies of two were recovered.
